UK Taekwon-Do Association National Seminar & Black Belt Grading

The UK Taekwon-Do Association (UKTA) recently held a National Technical Seminar and Black Belt Grading at Moray Sports Centre in Elgin, Scotland, from 20th to 22nd March 2025.

The event was hosted by UKTA President Grand Master John Williamson, who led the seminar and grading alongside Grand Master Michael Prewett, President of the EITF, and Grand Master Miller, Chairman of the EITF Umpire and Tournament Committee.

Over the course of the weekend, participants engaged in an intensive programme covering all 24 Taekwon-Do patterns, with detailed corrections and technical refinement provided by the Grand Masters. The seminar also included fundamental movements, sparring, breaking, special techniques, and self-defence.

The event held added significance as it coincided with the 60th Anniversary of the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF), with the Black Belt grading itself taking place on the exact anniversary date of 22nd March — marking a historic moment for all involved.

A total of 75 participants from across the association attended the event and 24 candidates successfully achieved promotion.
