The ITF Taekwon‑Do World Cup in Tashkent showcased a thrilling display of skill and sportsmanship with 1,500 participants from across the globe. Among the largest contingents were teams from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan, each demonstrating high levels of competition and team spirit.

However, it was the smaller teams that stole the spotlight with their phenomenal performances. The DPRK team, with just 14 members, clinched an impressive tally of 10 gold, 4 silver, and 5 bronze medals. Turkmenistan's compact squad of 5 competitors brought home 4 gold and 1 silver. Not to be outdone, the team from Tajikistan, comprising 8 athletes, won 5 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals, proving that size does not define strength.

The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the Adults Team Sparring, which saw intense and exhilarating matches. The face-off between DPRK and Russia was a focal point, bringing together two nations that have dominated the Taekwon‑Do scene for decades. The match was a breathtaking encounter, ending in a hard-fought but well-deserved victory for DPRK, the birthplace of Taekwon‑Do and the homeland of its founder, General Choi Hong Hi.

The World Cup also coincided with a special celebration of General Choi Hong Hi's birthday on November 9th, a revered date among ITF members. The festivities concluded with Korean team members performing traditional songs and dances, infusing the event with a vibrant cultural exchange that resonated with all attendees, regardless of their age or rank.

Looking ahead, the ITF Taekwon‑Do community is eagerly anticipating the next major event in Jesolo, Italy, where the world’s elite Taekwon‑Do athletes will convene for the ITF Taekwon‑Do World Championships. The stage is set for another round of exceptional performances and international camaraderie in this distinguished martial arts discipline.
